Boston String Academy

Our Story

Founded in 2012 by violinists Marielisa and Mariesther Alvarez, Boston String Academy draws inspiration from the Venezuelan El Sistema model, which champions musical excellence as a means for social change. The Academy provides rigorous string instrument instruction to children in under-served communities, fostering sensitive, responsible, and creative individuals through music education.

Impact

Boston String Academy serves over 120 students, offering them opportunities to perform locally and internationally, and participate in prestigious music festivals. The Academy has been recognized by the Boston City Council for its contributions to promoting Venezuelan culture and has received awards for its exceptional achievements in the arts.
