Our Story
Founded in 1805 by Drs. John C. Warren and James Jackson, the Boston Medical Library (BML) has a rich history of serving the educational needs of physicians. Reconstituted in 1875 by Dr. James Chadwick and incorporated in 1877, BML became the official library of the Massachusetts Medical Society in 1946. The mission of BML, revised in 2004, is to disseminate medical knowledge, promote education and scholarship, and preserve medical history, ultimately enhancing the quality of health and healthcare.
