The Boston Hurricanes, originally known as the Wing Wor Club, was established in 1970 by young Asian Americans from Chinatown. Sponsored by the Boston Chinatown Merchants, the organization has evolved to serve Asian American and Pacific Asian youth in the Greater Boston area, promoting athletic excellence and community service through volleyball and basketball programs.
With a focus on competitive sports, the Boston Hurricanes has developed successful volleyball and basketball teams, including a National Championship in 2004, while fostering cultural identity and community among Asian American youth.
