Our Story
Books for Keeps began with a simple yet powerful idea: to provide children with access to books. Founded in 2009 by Melaney Smith in Athens, GA, the organization has grown from a single book distribution to a movement that has delivered over 1 million books to children in need.

To date, Books for Keeps has distributed over 1,198,159 books, enabling elementary students to achieve an average of 1 to 2 months of reading growth each summer, significantly outpacing their peers.
