Our Story

Blue Sky Fund was founded with a mission to connect children from under-resourced areas to the transformative experience of summer camp. Since its inception in 2003, the organization has evolved to develop sustainable operations that provide lasting impact for Richmond youth. With a focus on equitable access to the outdoors, Blue Sky Fund now offers three core programs: Explorers, Outdoor Adventure Clubs, and the Outdoor Leadership Institute. These programs engage over 2,000 students each school year in nature-based activities that foster resilience, leadership, and environmental literacy.

Impact

Each year, Blue Sky Fund provides over 40,000 hours of outdoor time for Richmond youth, focusing on resilience building, leadership development, and outdoor science education.
