Our Story

Founded in 1981 by Helen Zebarth, RN, Blue Ridge Hospice was born from a vision to enhance end-of-life care. After witnessing the struggles of terminal patients, Helen sought to create a compassionate alternative. Starting with a handful of volunteers, the organization has grown to serve an average of 210 patients daily in the Northern Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia.
