Originally a family summer home, the property has transformed into a vibrant community retreat, welcoming various special-needs groups to enjoy the healing benefits of nature.

Our Story

The journey began in 1948 when Robert Bliffert purchased the property as a summer getaway. Over the years, the land flourished under the care of his son, Fred Bliffert, and his wife, Susan. After extensive renovations and a vision to share this beautiful space, they opened the doors to the community, starting with the Milwaukee Center for Independence. The positive impact of these visits inspired the Blifferts to apply for nonprofit status, leading to the birth of Blue Lotus Center.
