Empowering Classrooms Through Team Teaching

Blue Engine Inc. was founded with a vision to transform classrooms across the United States into engaging and individualized learning environments. Since 2010, the organization has been dedicated to ensuring that all students, particularly those from underserved communities, can build empowering relationships with educators and receive tailored instruction that meets their unique needs.

Initially, Blue Engine focused on enhancing student outcomes by introducing Blue Engine Teaching Apprentices (BETAs) into classrooms. This innovative approach led to significant improvements in educational experiences for over 15,000 students in New York City. However, as the program evolved, it became clear that a more sustainable model was needed. In 2018, Blue Engine shifted its focus to support existing teams of teachers, fostering collaboration and co-teaching strategies that have proven equally effective.

By partnering with schools that serve traditionally marginalized students, including students of color and those from low-income backgrounds, Blue Engine aims to address systemic inequities in education. The organization is committed to building a field dedicated to team teaching, with a goal of reaching 14,000 students and partnering with at least 20 school systems by 2024.

Impacting Education

Since 2014, Blue Engine has supported 1,358 educators in creating inclusive classroom environments. An impact study revealed that students in algebra classrooms experienced accelerated learning by an impressive six additional months. Over the past three years, 95% of teachers demonstrated progress in utilizing student data for small group instruction, while 90% improved their ability to accommodate diverse learners.
