Community Engagement

Our Story

BloomAgainBklyn was founded by Caroline Gates Anderson, a passionate resident of Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. Inspired by her love for flowers and their ability to bring joy, Caroline recognized a gap in the community for repurposing unsold flowers. In 2014, she partnered with Trader Joe’s to create a sustainable solution, leading to the establishment of BloomAgainBklyn. Since then, over 60 retailers and florists have joined the mission, donating their unused flowers to spread happiness.

Our Impact

BloomAgainBklyn has successfully diverted more than 1.8 million flowers from landfills, creating over 160,000 floral arrangements for more than 18,000 recipients. This initiative significantly reduces social isolation and loneliness among vulnerable populations in Brooklyn.
