Our Story

The Blind & Visually Impaired Center of Monterey County, Inc. (BVIC) was established in 1971 by a dedicated group of citizens, led by Ike Soskin. Initially a social and educational hub for the blind and visually impaired, BVIC has evolved into a comprehensive rehabilitation service provider, featuring the county’s premier low vision clinic.

Impact

BVIC plays a crucial role in enhancing the lives of individuals with vision loss, helping them maintain independence and improve their quality of life. In 2016 alone, BVIC served 355 unduplicated clients, addressing the increasing needs of an aging population.
