Our Story

Black Warrior Riverkeeper is a citizen-based nonprofit organization founded in 2001, dedicated to protecting and restoring the Black Warrior River and its tributaries. This organization plays a crucial role in promoting clean water for public health, recreation, and wildlife habitat throughout the Black Warrior River watershed in Alabama.

With over 100,000 pounds of litter removed through volunteer cleanup programs, Black Warrior Riverkeeper has made significant strides in addressing pollution issues affecting over 1 million residents.
