Our Story

Founded in 2019, Blackpackers was born from the personal journey of Patricia, a single mother who faced challenges in accessing outdoor adventures with her son. After saving diligently as an EMT, she embarked on her first solo backpacking trip, overcoming obstacles to embrace the beauty of nature. Blackpackers aims to bridge the gap in representation in the outdoors, making it easier for families to explore and enjoy nature together.

Our Impact

Blackpackers is dedicated to fostering economic equity in outdoor recreation by providing essential gear, outdoor excursions, and educational resources at little to no cost. Participants are also connected with valuable volunteer opportunities, internships, and job resources.
