Founded in 1983 by Bettye Ruth Kay, Bittersweet Farms was inspired by Somerset Court in England, the first farmstead community for adults with autism. As the first farmstead program in the United States, it has grown to serve over 100 individuals across multiple locations, providing meaningful opportunities for independence and community integration.
