Our Story
Bit by Bit Coding was founded in 2018 by Sydney Von Arx and Selena Zhang, inspired by a shared experience of gender imbalance in STEM. After witnessing the lack of representation in engineering classes, they took action to create a supportive environment for girls and underrepresented youth to learn coding. Starting with a summer program called Hello World, Bit by Bit Coding has grown to offer year-round clubs in middle and high schools, adapting to challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic by transitioning to online learning. This shift allowed the organization to reach students globally, expanding its curriculum from web development to advanced topics like machine learning.
