Our Story

The Bishop Gray Retirement Foundation has a rich history that began in 1895 when Bishop William Crane Gray inspired the diocese to establish the Church Home and Hospital. This initiative provided love, comfort, and support to the elderly. After several transitions, including the sale of the hospital in 1920 and the establishment of The Bishop Gray Inn in 1951, the foundation evolved. In 2004, the focus shifted to offering flexible financial assistance to senior Episcopalians, ensuring that hundreds in Central, Southeast, and Southwest Florida receive the hope and dignity they deserve.
