Birth It Forward

Our Story

Founded in 2003 by Meeka Centimano, Birth It Forward emerged from the Pregnancy and Postpartum Resource Coalition, dedicated to enhancing emotional well-being for families before and after childbirth. In 2019, the KC Women’s Ministry was established to support low-income families with free or sliding-scale doula services. During the COVID-19 pandemic, collaboration with local nonprofits allowed for birth and postpartum support at no cost to families on WIC. The launch of Mother’s Closet in 2021 provided essential items at no cost, and in 2022, the merger of PPRC and KCWM formed Birth It Forward, focusing on evidence-based care for families during pregnancy and postpartum periods.
