Our Story

Birmingham Theological Seminary (BTS) was founded in 1972 by Dr. Frank Barker and Rev. Bill Hay to offer affordable theological education for those called to Christian service. Initially known as the Birmingham Extension Seminary for Theological Education, BTS has educated over 5000 students and expanded its reach internationally.

BTS has significantly reduced the financial burden of obtaining a theological education, with tuition rates at one-fifth of the national average.
