Founded in 1998 by Laney and Jack Rickman, Bird Endowment is committed to the conservation of the critically endangered Blue-throated Macaw. With a focus on both in-situ and ex-situ efforts, the organization has established vital programs such as captive breeding and nest box initiatives in Bolivia.
As of June 2024, 145 Blue-throated Macaw chicks have successfully fledged from the nest boxes on the Laney Rickman Reserve. This achievement plays a crucial role in the recovery of a species with a wild population of only 420-480 individuals.
