Founded in 2004 by Carol Akerlof and animal lovers, the Bird Center of Michigan is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to rehabilitating injured and orphaned songbirds. Located in Saline, Michigan, it has grown significantly, thanks to the support of local foundations and community members.

In 2021 alone, the Bird Center took in over 1500 birds and logged more than 3000 calls for help, showcasing its vital role in wildlife rehabilitation in southeastern Michigan.
