Our Story

The Bingham County Humane Society (BCHS) has been a beacon of hope for companion animals since its inception in 1991. With a commitment to animal welfare, BCHS has evolved over the years, most recently under the leadership of dedicated volunteers following the retirement of long-time President Marcia Williams in 2021. The organization secured a shelter building in November 2013, located at 766 S Broadway in Blackfoot, where it provides care for rescue cats. Volunteer caregivers and foster homes prepare these cats for adoption, ensuring they are spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccinations.

Our Impact

BCHS is dedicated to addressing the pressing issue of cat overpopulation in Bingham County, Idaho. Through discounted spay/neuter voucher programs and rehoming initiatives, BCHS has saved thousands of lives and reduced the number of unwanted animals. The organization also educates the community on responsible pet ownership, promoting the benefits of spaying and neutering. With a focus on rescuing cats at risk of euthanasia due to overcrowding, BCHS continues to make a significant impact in the lives of both animals and their caregivers.
