About Bindlestiff Studio

Founded in 1989 by Chrystene Ells, Chris Brophy, and local theater artists, Bindlestiff Studio is the only permanent, community-based performing arts venue in the nation dedicated to showcasing emerging Filipino American and Pilipino artists. After relocating and reopening in 2011, the studio continues to provide access to diverse theatrical productions, music and film festivals, workshops, and youth programs.

Impact of Bindlestiff Studio

In just three months after reopening, Bindlestiff Studio served over 2,100 audience members and supported 80 artists, reinforcing its role as a cultural epicenter for Filipino-American performing arts in the Bay Area.
