Bikes Not Bombs was founded in 1984, harnessing the power of bicycles to drive social change and economic mobility for marginalized communities in Boston and the Global South. Each year, approximately 5,000 used bicycles and tons of parts are collected from generous supporters across Greater Boston and New England. Most of these bikes are shipped overseas to support economic development projects through international partnerships, while others are distributed locally through Youth Pathways, where teens gain valuable skills in bicycle safety and mechanics.
