Our Story

Established in 1959, the Big Horn County Memorial Hospital and Health Care Foundation has been a cornerstone of healthcare in Hardin, Montana. Originally opened as Big Horn Hospital, the facility has evolved to meet the growing needs of the community. In 1974, a nursing home was constructed, followed by the addition of Big Horn Senior Living in 1982, which includes long-term care beds and independent living apartments. Responding to public demand, the facility transitioned some independent living rooms into assisted living units in 1999.

In 2004, the hospital became a critical access hospital, ensuring that residents of Big Horn County and surrounding areas have access to essential medical services. The Big Horn Hospital Association operates with a community board of directors dedicated to providing quality, economical healthcare to a population of approximately 13,000 residents spread over five thousand square miles.
