Our Story
For over a century, Big Brothers Big Sisters has been transforming the lives of children by providing them with caring mentors. The movement began in 1904 when Ernest Coulter, a New York City court clerk, recognized the need for positive adult influences in the lives of at-risk youth. This vision led to the establishment of the Big Brothers movement. In 1977, the organization evolved into Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, and the York County agency has been serving the community since 1974, originally as part of Catholic Charities.
