Our Story

Founded in 1904, Big Brothers Big Sisters began with a vision to provide caring adult role models to children in need. This initiative started when Ernest Coulter, a New York City court clerk, recognized the potential of mentorship in helping boys stay out of trouble. Over the years, this movement evolved, merging with the Ladies of Charity to form a united front for youth mentorship. Today, Big Brothers Big Sisters operates in all 50 states and 12 countries, continuing the legacy of nurturing relationships that empower children.

Impact

Big Brothers Big Sisters is dedicated to helping children realize their potential and build brighter futures. By fostering meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers and children aged 6 to 18, the organization strengthens communities and nurtures youth. With over a century of experience, BBBS remains committed to igniting the power and promise of youth through positive relationships.
