Our Story
Beyond Hunger began in the late 1970s with a local Girl Scout troop providing holiday food baskets to families in need. Over the years, it evolved from the Hunger Task Force to the Oak Park River Forest Food Pantry, and finally to Beyond Hunger in 2019, reflecting its mission to end hunger across 13 zip codes in Cook County, including parts of Chicago.

In FY2023, Beyond Hunger supported over 52,000 individuals and distributed 130 tons of food, providing each household with an average of 18.2 pounds of fresh produce per visit, marking the highest number of individuals served in its history.
