Our Story
Better Basics is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving children's reading and mathematics literacy in Central Alabama. Founded in 1993 by John Glasser, the organization addresses the critical link between poverty and illiteracy.
Impact
In the 2023-24 year, Better Basics served 28,547 children, marking a 12% increase from the previous year, and distributed over 92,000 children's books across the region.
