Bethlehem Ministry

Our Story
Founded in 1985, Bethlehem Ministry began with a heartfelt journey to Haiti by Peter and Berry Rice, who sought to support their son, Clai, working with Father Jean Monique Bruno. This visit ignited a lifelong commitment to improving the lives of Haitians through education and healthcare. The Rice family, inspired by Father Bruno's vision of a "House of Bread," transitioned from a small fundraising group to a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, focusing on sustainable solutions to poverty.
Mission and Vision
At the core of Bethlehem Ministry is a mission to empower Haitians towards sustainability and independence. Collaborating with local NGOs, the organization oversees a pre-K through 13th-grade school and a medical clinic, addressing critical needs in education and healthcare. The holistic approach aims to combat poverty, environmental degradation, and lack of access to essential services.
Impact
Over the past 30 years, Bethlehem Ministry has worked alongside the Haitian community to foster long-term change. By focusing on education, job creation, and healthcare access, the organization helps Haitians utilize their talents and resources for sustainable development.
