Our Story
Founded in 1740 by Rev. George Whitefield, Bethesda Academy, originally known as Bethesda Orphan House and Academy, is the oldest continuously operating child-caring institution in the United States. Over the centuries, it has provided a nurturing environment for more than 12,000 boys, instilling in them a love for God, a passion for learning, and a strong work ethic. The institution has evolved from an orphanage to a college preparatory school, reflecting its commitment to the holistic development of young men.
