Our Story

Founded in 1991 by Reverend Ronald E. Nored and Clarence L. Brown, Bethel Ensley Action Task (BEAT) emerged from a deep commitment to alleviate the suffering witnessed in the Ensley community. Initially focused on the area surrounding Bethel A.M.E. Church, BEAT has expanded its mission to empower local residents through the development of high-quality affordable homes, community parks, and partnerships aimed at revitalizing Downtown Ensley.

Our Impact

To date, BEAT has successfully developed 51 affordable housing units, with 12 more currently in progress. The organization is also working on the Ensley Junction project, which will add an additional 48 units, bringing the total to over 100 affordable housing units. BEAT is dedicated to creating synergies between affordable housing, health services, and community engagement.
