Our Story

In 2011, animal advocates Luisa Ortiz and Sandra Solis united to tackle the growing issue of stray cats in Laredo. Their passion led to the establishment of Best Friends for Life (BFFL) as a 501(c)(3) organization on January 20, 2015. BFFL focuses on rescuing homeless pets, providing essential veterinary care, and promoting spay/neuter services to find loving homes for these animals. Through community education and outreach, BFFL aims to raise awareness about the importance of responsible pet ownership and the impact of stray cat overpopulation.

Impact

Since its inception, BFFL has successfully rescued and placed over 7,702 cats into loving homes while implementing a Trap, Neuter & Return (TNR) program to combat stray cat overpopulation in Laredo.
