Berkshires Bounty was founded in 2016 by Jay Weintraub and Mark Lefenfeld with a mission to combat food insecurity. Volunteers pick fruit from backyard trees and collect food from local supermarkets, delivering it to those in need. The organization grew significantly after merging with a local nonprofit that had been serving the community for over 25 years, honoring the legacy of its founder, Mel Greenberg.
To date, Berkshire Bounty has successfully collected 1,500,000 pounds of nutritious food, significantly improving the quality of food available to food-insecure populations.
