Alleviating Hunger
Food Insecurity
Social Isolation

Our Story

In the autumn of 1986, a group of Williams College students, inspired by Rev. Elizabeth Wheeler, initiated a program to provide free lunches in North Adams. The Berkshire Food Project began serving meals twice a week in January 1987, funded initially by a 'meatless meal' program at Williams College. Over the years, the BFP has expanded its operations to serve hot, nutritious meals five days a week, utilizing local ingredients and offering vegetarian options daily.

Our Impact

The Berkshire Food Project is dedicated to alleviating hunger, food insecurity, and social isolation by providing healthy, no-cost meals in a dignified manner. Each meal served is a step towards a healthier community.
