Our Story

In 1980, a dedicated group of Berkeley County parents established a preschool center in a church basement to support children with disabilities. This initiative led to the creation of the Mary K Center for Special Children, which began with just 21 preschoolers. As societal attitudes evolved, so did the mission. In 2023, Berkeley Citizens transformed into Unity Bay, now serving 250 adults with disabilities in the low country of South Carolina.
