Our Story
The Bergheim Volunteer Fire Department was born from the vision of concerned citizens in eastern Kendall County. In 2004, a group led by Steve Koronczok, Scott Shaheen, and J.W. Pieper recognized the urgent need for a local fire station. With the support of Kendall County Commissioner Gene Miertschin, they secured land for the firehouse and began to gather community support. By 2005, the Organizing Committee expanded to include residents from surrounding areas, all committed to establishing a vital emergency service.
After years of planning and hard work, the firehouse was completed in April 2009, and the department officially began operations in June 2009. Since then, Bergheim VFD has grown significantly, responding to thousands of emergency calls and becoming an essential part of the community's safety infrastructure.
