Our Story

The UU Urban Ministry, established in 1826 by Reverend Joseph Tuckerman, has dedicated nearly 200 years to empowering Boston’s underprivileged citizens. Through education, direct service, and advocacy, the organization has evolved to address pressing social issues, particularly in the Roxbury neighborhood.

Impact on the Community

With programs like the Renewal House shelter, the UU Urban Ministry provides safe housing and healing counseling for families fleeing domestic violence, while also offering academic enrichment for youth of color.
