Our Story

For over 160 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of America have opened doors of opportunity for youth. Founded in 1860 by four visionary women in Hartford, Connecticut, the first Club was established to provide a positive alternative for boys in need. Today, the mission remains clear: to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to become productive, caring, and responsible citizens.

Annually, Boys & Girls Clubs provide a safe haven for 3.6 million youth, guiding them towards bright futures. An impressive 97% of Club teens expect to graduate from high school, while 80% of youth understand how their feelings influence their actions.
