Our Story

The Benjamin Hair Just Swim for Life Foundation was established in 2010 to address the critical need for swimming education among at-risk children. Founded as a charitable arm of the Jefferson Swim League, this foundation honors the legacy of Benjamin Hair, a passionate swimmer and advocate for water safety who tragically passed away in 2009. BH-JSL is dedicated to improving water safety in the Charlottesville/Albemarle area by funding certified Water Safety Instructors to conduct learn-to-swim programs.

Impact

With a mission to enhance water safety, BH-JSL targets the alarming statistic that nearly 70% of African-American children and 58% of Hispanic/Latino children cannot swim. By providing funding for certified instructors, the foundation ensures that essential swimming education is accessible to those who need it most.

Why Donate?
