Our Story

Founded in March 2006 by J Schilling, Because Animals Matter (BAM) emerged from a deep commitment to animal welfare in Southwest Utah. This organization serves as a vital resource for companion-animal-related issues, operating a small adoption and community outreach center alongside a network of dedicated foster homes. BAM is entirely funded by generous donations, wills, and bequests, relying on the unwavering support of volunteers. Without state or federal funding, BAM thrives on community involvement to create strong, humane relationships between people and their pets.

Impact

BAM's mission is clear: to help one pet at a time through our adoption center, foster network, and community outreach. The success of our first annual Fur the Future fundraiser, which raised over $25,000, exemplifies the community's commitment to caring for homeless animals.
