Our Story
Bearnstow is a not-for-profit educational institution founded in 1946, originally established as a children’s camp. Nestled on 65 acres of pristine forest and rocky shoreline on Parker Pond in Mount Vernon, Maine, Bearnstow has evolved to offer meaningful educational and artistic programming. The organization fosters care of land and spirit, inspires freedom of individual expression, and promotes exploration of the natural world through the creative arts and sciences.
