Be Ready Manoa, formerly known as the Manoa Disaster Preparedness Team, was established in November 2013 to enhance disaster preparedness in the Manoa community. Since becoming a 501(c)(3) organization in 2016, BRM has focused on educating residents and organizing training sessions to ensure that the community is ready to respond effectively during emergencies.
Thanks to the collective efforts of local residents, Manoa was recognized as the first ‘resilient’ urban community by the City and County of Honolulu in August 2017. BRM plays a crucial role in helping the community sustain itself until first responders can arrive after a disaster.
