Be Loud! Sophie Foundation

Our Story

The Be Loud! Sophie Foundation was founded by the Steiner family in memory of their daughter Sophie, aiming to support the unique needs of adolescents and young adults facing cancer. Established after Sophie’s passing, the foundation collaborates with UNC’s Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center to create one of the first AYA programs in the nation, ensuring young patients maintain their dignity and independence during their cancer journey.

Impact

Through the establishment of the UNC AYA Cancer Program, the Be Loud! Sophie Foundation provides unprecedented support to young cancer patients aged 13 to 39 at UNC Hospitals. This initiative has garnered national recognition for its comprehensive approach to AYA cancer care.
