Our Story

Founded in 1971, the Bowery Residents' Committee emerged from the efforts of local residents determined to overcome homelessness and addiction. Over the years, BRC has expanded its services to include outreach, transitional housing, and workforce development, empowering vulnerable New Yorkers to reclaim their lives.

Impact

Each year, BRC serves over 8,000 individuals, helping them transition from homelessness to permanent housing. In FY 2024, 6,963 clients graduated from programs, with 1,209 moving into independent living.
