Our Story

The Bayou Community Foundation (BCF) was established in 2012 by dedicated business leaders and philanthropists from Lafourche and Terrebonne Parishes. This unique public community foundation is committed to serving the needs of Lafourche Parish, Terrebonne Parish, and Grand Isle, Louisiana. In response to the devastation caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, as well as the 2010 Gulf oil spill, local leaders recognized the urgent need for a foundation that could enhance human services, education, workforce development, and coastal preservation efforts. BCF has since developed the Bayou Recovery Fund, which mobilizes resources to assist local residents and attract donations during emergencies.

Our Impact

Since Hurricane Ida struck three years ago, BCF has acted swiftly to support local residents and nonprofits in their recovery efforts. The Bayou Recovery Fund has been instrumental in providing over $12 million in charitable gifts to aid recovery initiatives in Lafourche, Terrebonne, and Grand Isle. This fund has become a vital resource for rebuilding lives and communities.
