The Bay Area Community Land Trust (BACLT) is dedicated to transforming for-profit rental properties into permanently affordable, democratically run cooperative housing. This initiative aims to foster economic and racial equity in the Bay Area, ensuring that lower-income households have access to stable housing. By acquiring and preserving unsubsidized affordable rental housing, BACLT combats displacement in low-income neighborhoods, reviving under-utilized buildings and empowering residents through cooperative property management training.
