Our Story
Baxter Community Center opened its doors in the summer of 1969, addressing the urgent needs arising from racial inequality and social injustices. Over the decades, Baxter has expanded its programs to meet the evolving needs of the community. Today, it offers a Child Development Center for infants through preschoolers, a Wholistic Health Center providing dental and mental health services, and a Marketplace that supplies fresh produce to those in need.
Impact
Each month, Baxter serves over 500 families through its Marketplace and has facilitated over 32,000 visits to its Wholistic Health Center since 1983. Additionally, more than 3,000 children have benefited from educational support in the Child Development Center.
