Our Story

On April 4, 2012, an electrical fire devastated the Battle Mountain Humane Society, destroying the shelter and leaving many animals in peril. Tonia Wagoner, the president, bravely rescued numerous pets while witnessing her own home burn. The community's unwavering support led to the shelter's rebuilding, allowing it to continue as a no-kill haven for animals in need.

Our Impact

Every year, hundreds of pets find loving homes through the efforts of BMHS, saving over 500 lives annually.
