Our Story

The Bastrop County Women’s Shelter, known as the Family Crisis Center, was founded in 1981 by a coalition of rural Texas women dedicated to supporting victims of domestic violence. Since its incorporation as a nonprofit in 1983, the Center has become a beacon of hope in rural Central Texas, offering safety, shelter, and advocacy for over 40 years.

Impact

Last year, the Center provided crisis intervention and support services to over 600 individuals, answering more than 2,700 hotline calls. This impact is a testament to the dedication of the staff, volunteers, and community partners.
