Our Story
In 1996, a passionate group of basset lovers founded Basset Rescue of Old Dominion Inc (BROOD) to create a responsible rescue organization for neglected basset hounds across Virginia, Maryland, DC, Delaware, and parts of Pennsylvania. Since then, BROOD has rescued and adopted out over 3,500 dogs, providing care for those that were abused, neglected, or surrendered by their owners.
