Our Story
The Barton Institute for Community Action was established in 2016 at the University of Denver, inspired by the vision of David Miller, former President and CEO of The Denver Foundation. Named in honor of Laura Barton’s late husband, Peter Barton, the institute became a separate 501(c)(3) organization in January 2020, dedicated to fostering opportunities and supporting community leaders in Metro Denver.
Impact
Through initiatives like the Colorado Safe Parking Initiative, the Barton Institute has doubled safe parking options for individuals experiencing homelessness in the Front Range over the past year, making a significant impact on the community.
